NGT hearing: ADGP faints

SHILLONG, MAR 20: Meghalaya’s   Additional Director General (ADG) -in charge law and order- YC Modi suffered from a ‘heart attack’ during the hearing of the National Green Tribunal (NGT) in New Delhi on Friday, police source said.

Modi was immediately rushed from the court room to a dispensary present inside the Supreme Court premises for immediately medical attention. He had gone to Delhi to attend the NGT hearing as the representative of the state police with regards to implementation of NGT’s directives on coal mining, which was ban since last year.

Confirming this, a senior police official said that the incident took place at around 2.00 to 2.30 pm while the court proceeding was still going on. “The ADG fainted inside the court’s room,” he informed.

According to senior police official, the incident happen when the NGT judge had stated that he is going to pass a harsh order.  Modi was immediately taken in NGT chairperson Justice Swatanter Kumar’s car to a dispensary inside the Supreme Court’s complex, he said.

The doctor referred him to a Sasdurjan Hospital in New Delhi for further treatment, the senior police official said while informing that the condition of Modi is stable and he is undergoing treatment.- By Our Reporter
