SHILLONG, OCT 10: Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) Chief Executive Member (CEM) Adelber Nongrum on Friday submitted list of the Executive Members (EMs) of the new EC to the Governor.
“We have submitted the list of EMs of the new executive committee to the Governor Dr KK Paul for his approval,” Nongrum said. He informed that portfolios will be accordingly allotted to all the EMs soon after the list gets the approval.
Nongrum informed that he has decided to retain the same MDCs who were holding the post of EMs in the EC led by HSPDP leader Ardent Miller Basaiawmoit, who quits as the CEM last month.
Nongrum, however, said that a meeting of the new EC would be convened soon to discuss and consult with all the members before taking a final decision pertaining to the portfolios.
“We will discuss if there is a need of a minor reshuffle of the portfolios,” Nongrum added.
The resignation of Basaiawmoit as the CEM and also the resignation of Nongskhen MDC Grace Mary Kharpuri from the HSPDP has left the party with only two EMs.
The HSPDP is now left with only six MDCs after Kharpuri’s resignation as she decided to continue as an Independent MDC.
Sources informed that HSPDP has proposed that it wanted that the party should be given one more post of EM in the new EC as a replacement for Basaiawmoit.
The HSPDP has proposed the name of Mawshynrut MDC Morningstar Mawsor for the EM post in the new EC, sources informed.
Four MDCs from the UDP and three from KHNAM will be EMs in the new EC, sources added.-By Our Reporter
