polls as he confidently told a gathering in Mahendraganj and Zikzak in South West Garo hills that the NPP will form the government in 2018 by defeating the Congress.

Conrad was on a whirlwind tour to different parts of plain belt area of West and South West Garo hills and concluded his three day tour on Sunday evening addressing at Mahendraganj and Zikzak in South West Garo Hills.

He begun his tour on Friday by addressing thanksgiving rallies at Phulbari, Rajabala and Chibinang.

“I express my deep gratitude to the people of Garo Hills for giving mandate to the National People’s Party (NPP) and the legacy of Purno A. Sangma. This is a victory of Garo Hills, irrespective of their caste, creed and religion”, he said.

He told the gathering that he would work for all communities without any bias. “I will listen to different communities and do my level best to bring about solution to their problems”, he vowed.

Plain belt area of Garo Hills is dominated by minorities.

Conrad said he was humbled by the people’s blessing showered on NPP.  He expressed his special gratitude towards the women and youth voters who participated in large number during the polling.

He also wished the people, while interacting for the holy Muslim month of Ramazan.

Stating that NPP was committed to upkeep the pride of Garo hills, Conrad said, “I have begun my work as an MP and am meeting politicians in Delhi to take up the cause of Garo Hills”.

He also told the gathering that in 2018, NPP would be prepared to take on the ruling Congress party in the state. “I am confident and hopeful that in 2018, NPP will pose a tough fight to the Congress. We are expecting to form the government”.

In the present Meghalaya legislative assembly, the NPP has two legislators in the 60-member house.-From Our Correspondent
