The truck turned turtle and went down a deep gorge seriously injuring the driver and the handyman. Both of them were rushed to the Nongpoh Civil hospital for medical treatment.

According to the Ri-Bhoi SP CVS Reddy the miscreants have been identified by the police and formal case will be registered against them under the Meghalaya Maintenance of Public Order Act.

The Ri- Bhoi intensified police patrolling and provided protection to vehicles plying along the Guwahati Shillong national highway during the two-night-long road blockade called by Ri Bhoi Youth Federation (RBYF) from Thursday night. The blockade starts from 8pm to 5 am on Thursday and will continue on Friday night.
Earlier Akashdeep had informed that police will provide scout to vehicles from point to point. The night road blockade is called by the RBYF as the government refused to reinstated Meghalaya Urban Development Authority (MUDA) two casual employees Hundalin Warjri and Subita Lapang who had been dismissed by the authority.

Section 144 CrPC has been imposed in the district prohibiting any obstruction to vehicular movements in view of the two-night-long road. Security has also been beefed along the highway and patrolling has been intensified.
