SHILLONG, OCT 22: The second day of the 36 hours HNLC bandh- which concluded at Tuesday 6 pm, continued to affect functioning of government offices, banks, financial and educational institutions as these organisations remained closed for second consecutive days even as people braving the bandh thronged Khyndailad to witness musical concert.

However, the 36 hours bandh passed off peacefully without any incident being reported from any part of the city and the state. The two days visit of President Pranab Mukhejee also concluded after he attended the NEHU convocation on Tuesday.

Business establishment through Shillong remained closed and there were very few vehicles plying on the roads.

As a mark to protest against the thirty-six hours bandh), a “Free Your Mind”  concert was organize by a groups of citizens to make sure people do comes out and  defy the two days bandh.

The concert attracted good crowd that consisted of the young and old including women and students at Khyndailad. Besides being treated to the songs of singers like Rana Kharkongor, Jameer Kharkongor, Cubicle and the Special Act by the Shillong Chamber Choir, the special attraction on Tuesday was the Bike stunts by Freeky bykers and Bicycle Xbhp.

The crowd really seems to relish the stunts of the bikers as they watched with abated interests till the end of the show. – By Our Reporter
