SHILLONG, AUG 4: One died while seven others critically injured when the passenger vehicle they were travelling fell into a gorge at Umbang under Umsning Block in Ri Bhoi district on Monday. The TATA Sumo (ASO1EC – 1669) which the passengers were travelling was heading towards Shillong from Guwahati, police said.
On reaching Umbang, the driver lost control of the vehicle and drove off the road and down into a gorge killing one person while seven other were critically injured, police informed.
The deceased has been identified as Altaz Hussain.
The other injured persons were identified as Mohammed Ali Hassan (32), MK Goswami (52), Dhansingh Malik (18), Badesh Baruah (27), Omkar Singh (34), Iseverind Lyngkhoi (37) and Asin Sinha (26) to Shillong Civil Hospital. – By Our Reporter
