GNLA militant killed

TURA, AUG 4: A suspected Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA) militant was killed in an encounter on Monday in West Garo hills district. The flush out operation was conducted by the Jat Regiment of the Army posted near Tikrikilla, along Assam – Meghalaya border.

The security forces launched the operation between 1:30 am – 2 am at Kodomsali village, which is under Tikrikilla police station. Security forces have also recovered a grenade, 7.6 mm pistol and a 9 mm pistol from the incident spot.

The body of the slain militant has been taken to the Lakhipur police station under Goalpara district in Assam for identification and post-mortem.- From Our Correspondent
