SHILLONG, SEPT 8: The long awaited demand for One Rank One Pension(OROP) has been implemented from July 1, 2016. However, there have been several anomalies and grievances in its implementation. To address the anomalies raised by the Ex Servicemen (now called defence veterans,) the Central Government has constituted a judicial committee headed by Justice L Narasimha Reddy, retired Chief Justice of Patna High Court.
The committee is holding hearings for defence veterans at several places across India. These hearings are being held to address and resolve the representations. The hearing for the Defence Veterans of Meghalaya and Assam will be held at Guwahati on 13 September.
This provides great opportunity for the defence veterans of the state to resolve their grievances. All defence veterans (Ex-Servicemen) have been requested to attend the meeting at Rangamahal Narangi Cantt from 1100H onwards on 13 Sep 16.
The committee has also made arrangements for the veterans to forward their grievances/queries/anomalies in advance through the internet at jcorop.guw@gmail.com or communicated on mobile no 09435254392 for compilation and submission to the committee.-By Our Reporter
