Papers vendors’ condole APJ’s death

kalam condolenceSHILLONG, JULY 30: Late APJ Abdul Kalam, the man who rose to become India’s famous and most lovable President from newspapers boy, has not only touched the hearts of the students’ community but has also struck a chord with newspapers hawkers as newspapers vendors in Meghalaya took time out to pay tribute to the great soul on the day he was laid to rest in home town.

The newspaper hawker and vendor in the state under the banner of Meghalaya Newspaper hawker & Vendor Association (MNH&VA) on Thursday expressed its deepest sorrow and grief over the sudden demise Kalam.

In statement issued on Thursday, MNH&VA founder & adviser LP Warjri and general secretary Eklansis Sohshang said the association send its condolence to all concerned and pray for Kalam soul to rest in peace.

Like many newspapers hawkers in the state, Kalam too started his life’s  distributing newspapers in town along with his cousin Samsuddin to support his family. Newspapers hawkers in the country and the state too can take inspiration from the ‘People’s President’ who after his morning class, went around town distributing the newspaper.

However Kalam did not distribute the newspapers until he himself had read it. First he would read the newspapers that he had been given to distribute and after reading then he set on his morning duty to distribute it.

But because of sheer hard work and dedication he rose from “Paper Boy To President” Many would find inspiration from one of his quote, “It doesn’t matter what you are in the past, it only matters what you are now…”- By Our Reporter
