SHILLONG, SEPT 1: The state cabinet on Thursday approved the appointment of former chief secretary WMS Pariat as the new chairman of the Meghalaya Electricity Regulatory Commission (MERC). “We have approved the appointment of Pariat as the new MERC chairman,” chief minister Mukul Sangma told reporters after the meeting.
He informed that the exercise was done as per the mandate of the Electricity Act, 2003. The post fell vacant after former chairman of the MERC P Anand Kumar was relieved from the post.-By Our Reporter
