SHILLONG, JUNE 27: The state government has not been able to take action against the anomalies into the recruitment of the General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) for the past three years allegedly because the inquiry report has not been submitted as yet.

In 2013, an inquiry committee was constituted to probe in the recruitment of GNM by the Directorate of Health Services (MI), which was done without the approval of the state government.

Speaking to reporters on Monday, Health Minister AL Hek said, “We are still waiting for the inquiry to be completed before taking any action.”

Informing that the government in 2013 had sanctioned a total of 360 posts, he said, “However the Directorate had taken a decision to create division among the bonded and non-bonded GNM by separating 180 posts for bonded and another 180 for non-bonded without the approval the government.”

According to him, the government had never come up with such policy and moreover even after dividing the posts, the directorate could not fill up all the 180 posts each for bonded and non-bonded.

He also informed that the director of the Health Services (MI) has already retired recently.

When asked about the delay, the minister said that the government has not kept quiet on the issue and that is why it has constituted the inquiry committee. He assured that the government would definitely take necessary action based on the findings of  the report to be submitted by the inquiry committee.-By Our Reporter
