PLA cadre apprehended

Shillong,   Sept 5: A hardcore   People’s Liberation Army (PLA) cadre was apprehended by the 108 Battalion of   Border Security Fofrce (BSF) of Dawki Border Outpost (BOP), in East Khasi   Hills District late Tuesday night. The militant is identified as Athokpam   Surchandra Singh, 43yrs,  resident of   Thongju village, Chanchipur, Singjamei District, Imphal (East) Manipur.

Singh was caught while trying to infiltrate from India to Bangladesh. During interrogation, he revealed that he is the Area Secretary of Imphal (West) Division, and had undergone training in 1993 in 9th   batch of PLA and his army no is 2547.

Singh further revealed that he was involved in   the organizational work of PLA in Bangladesh, like public meetings and   motivating the youth to join the PLA, while most of the time he was in   Bangladesh, he had entered India in December 2011. He got married in   Bangladesh and his wife and two daughters are still in Bangladesh.

Indian currency  Rs 8,735 and a mobile phone with Indian SIM   card was recovered from him.- By Our   Reporter
