Heavy vehicles plying

NONGPOH, OCT 5:The KSU, Umiam Circle and Seng Samla Shnong Mawlyndep have opposed plying of heavy vehicle from Lad Umsaw-Mawlyndep road which they feel cause major damages of the public road.

The KSU, Umiam Circle and the Seng Samla Shnong Mawlyndep on Saturday conducted spot inspection of the damage road from Lad Umsaw to Mawlyndep village.

The leaders of the two organizations found that the entire stretch of the road was damaged due to plying of heavy vehicles which is not suppose to allow the entry of the heavy vehicles as the capacity of the road was constructed for the public vehicles.

KSU president of Umiam Circle Bral Thangkhiew and president of Seng Samla Shnong Mawlyndep Hilarius Mawlong informed that several people from the area has expressed their resentment on plying of heavy vehicle that has not only damage the road but also pose a threat for the local vehicles as the road was very narrow.

They also pointed out that the road was not constructed for plying of heavy vehicles but it only meant for local vehicle.

They urged the PWD, Umsning division and the district authority of Ri-Bhoi district to stops the entry of heavy vehicles and said action is not taken the government should take a responsibility if any untoward incident take place.- By Our Reporter
