SHILLONG, OCT 14:  KHADC chief executive member  Pynshngain N Syiem on Friday skipped yet another crucial meeting of the Congress party to discuss poll preparedness for the upcoming district council bye-election.

However, Meghalayla Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) termed the absence of Syiem, also a Congress legislator from Mawsynram ,as an ‘internal affair’ of the party.

Asked what Syiem’s absence indicates, MPCC chief DD Lapang said, “This is an internal affair of the party. We will not divulge to the press till such time when we finally decide from the party.”

Stating that the issue is also in the hands of the party high command, he said, “The AICC is very much seized with the problem.”

In his recent statement Syiem had termed the bye-election as man-made and unusual.

On this, the MPCC chief while feigning ignorance of  such statements said that the party would take into account everything.

Speaking after the KHADC executive committee meeting earlier, Syiem admitted that he was supposed to attend the party meeting but could not as he had to chair the meeting of District Level Committee (DLC).

The DLC meeting was to discuss on the project proposals of the KHADC for implementing the special assistance grant sanctioned by the centre, before placing them before the State Level Committee for its approval.

Recently there were also reports alleging that the KHADC chief executive member (CEM) has been engaged in campaigning against the party candidates.

When confronted with the question, Syiem outrightly denied of indulging insuch anti party activities as he maintained that such allegations are totally false and baseless. “If I am involved in such activities, let the party show cause me,” he said.-By Our Reporter
