SHILLONG, JUNE 3: The body of a police constable, who was abducted recently, was recovered from a jungle at Dawagittimgre area in East Garo hills district, police informed. UBC/124 Mrinal Kanti Modok was reportedly abducted on May 26 from Chipit village, they said. According to police, the body of the victim was wrapped with polythene when it was recovered.
The breakthrough came after the arrest of the main accused in the case, Bearsingh T Sangma alias Aldurik (25) and his girlfriend Sengchi D Sangma (20) from Majipara, Dudhnoi, Assam on Thursday evening.
Cash amounting to Rs 53,000 and two mobile phones were also seized from their possession.
Meanwhile, the body of the deceased has been sent to Williamnagar civil hospital for post-mortem examination.-By Our Reporter
