Probe demanded to locate ANVC(B) chief

SHILLONG, JUN 10: The ANVC (B) general secretary Jakrik Wareng A Sangma demanded the state government must immediately set up an enquiry on the whereabouts of its missing chairman Rimpu Marak even as it indicated  that the police must be responsible behind the sudden disappearance of Marak as he was found missing just after an operation by the West Garo hills police.

Lamenting that if their chairman is not located, Sangma aid the ANVC(B) cadres might be forced to go back to the jungle and disregard the tripartite agreement signed between the outfit, state and central government to usher in peace in the Garo hills region.

“We suggest the authorities to inquire into the details of a gypsy and sumo which was used in the operation by the police,” Sangma said in a statement issued Monday.

The demand came after the police headquarter have denied any knowledge of the operation. The ANVC ( B) was also of the view the action of the police will only forced the cadres to go back to the jungle.

The ANVC(B) wanted that the  investigation must be taken up to find out the identity of a person who called the additional SP( special branch) from Chandmary  on June 5 to inform about the movement of itd chairman’s.

According to the ANVC(B) a day after the  its  chairman went missing police claimed they found one abandoned car with a gun inside. Sangma revealed that the car was driven by their chairman on the world environment day which coincide with the police raided him. He claimed initially there was no gun in the car but the police planted the gun after opening the car with the car’s key, which he suspects the  police must have got it from their chairman.

The ANVC(B) also claimed police took out something that was wrapped from a sumo bearing number ML 08C 3602 and put it in their chairman’s car and later claimed that they found a gun inside the abandoned car.

The ANVC(B) also claimed that the police operation that coincide with the world environment day    a black gypsy ML 08 0044 and one sumo ML08C 3602 was used after which its chairman went missing.- By Our Reporter
