SHILLONG, FEB 6: The North East Indigenous Garo Law Promoters Association (NEIGLPA) and Tennydard M Marak , a resident of Nokgilawe village in Williamnagar in East Garo hills district has sought state governor KK Paul intervention to remove chief minister Mukul Sangma and his brother minister Zenith Sangma  from their office to allow free and fair investigation into their Scheduled Tribe (ST) status.

The appeal was made on Wednesday last following the recent Supreme Court order on January 20 directing the National Commission for Scheduled Tribes (NCST), New Delhi to conduct a time-bound inquiry into the issue of conferment of Scheduled Tribe status of chief minister Mukul Sangma and dispose of the matter on merits and in accordance with law preferably within eight weeks time.

Marak said in the memorandum submitted to Paul that it would be inappropriate to allow Mukul Sangma, chief minister of Meghalaya, to continue in office any further simply because his continuance in office will prejudice the investigation, trial or any inquiry and there is every apprehension of tampering with witnesses or documents. – By Our Reporter

To proof that our CM is indeed a true leader he should step down willingly and be a simple MLA untill enquiry completed. If he does not do so, the same process will recur as the case of LP teacher. It will be a futile investigation if he remains as CM.
