The Returning Officer of 1-Shillong parliamentary constituency on Wednesday issued an order for compliance of all contesting candidates and president/secretary of all political parties, 1-Shillong parliamentary constituency, in connection with the general elections to the Lok Sabha 2024, that in accordance with ECI’s Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for the last 72 hours till the close of poll.
The order said all political functionaries whether on private or official visit are prohibited to use pilot car(s), car(s) with beacon lights of any colour, car(s) affixed with sirens of any kind.
Cars/vehicles shall, under no circumstances, be allowed to move in convoys of more than ten vehicles, excluding security vehicles, it said while adding that bikers rally is not permitted at any place during election time. The order also maintained that any violation will be dealt with strictly as per relevant legal provisions.
