Sangma rush to Delhi to get Sonia’s nod

cabinetSHILLONG, MAR 2:  Meghalaya chief minister Mukul Sangma, who is all set for his second term as chief minister, has flown to Delhi Saturday afternoon to get the list of cabinet ministers approved by Congress president Sonia Gandhi.

Meghalaya cabinet consist of only twelve ministers and it will tough task for Sangma to choose his team considering that there are many Congress legislators who are looking forward to be included in the council of ministers.

The AICC leaders’ union minister of Shipping and the Congress Working Committee (CWC) member Vayallar Ravi, general secretaries Mukul Wasnik and Sanjay Bapna left early Saturday morning after overseeing the “selection” of Sangma as the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader. Sangma flew in the afternoon.

Congress sources told this website that Sangma will hold consultation with Sonia Gandhi, her political secretary Ahmed Patel and the three Congress leaders who had come to Shillong will also be there.

Congress sources said that the Congress legislators, including senior leaders like Salseng C Marak, DD Lapang and Deborah Marak, are not sure who will be in the cabinet. The sources said, “This time it is completely Dr’s show, he will make the list and seek the approval of “Madam” and that is it.”

Interestingly this time nobody is lobbying for the cabinet berth as everybody has left it to Sangma. Sources said, “After the call from Madam yesterday endorsing Sangma as the CLP leader, nobody is lobbying for a cabinet berth.”

The swearing in ceremony is like to be held on Tuesday if everything goes according to schedule after the Election Commission of India (ECI) issues a notification dissolving the eight Meghalaya legislative assembly.:- By Our Reporter
