SHILLONG, JULY 4: The Online Registration System (ORS) at Shillong Civil hospital was inaugurated on Monday by Meghalaya health minister AL Hek. The portal is designed to make online OPD appointment with doctors’ doe the patients easy as they do not have to wait for in long queue.

The online OPD appointments using eKYC data provided by UIDAI can be made if patient’s mobile is registered with UIDAI and incase mobile number of the patient is not registered with UIDAI, patient’s name has to be provided.

New patients without Aadhar number can also make online appointments but should have a mobile number and such patients will get confirmation of appointment through SMS on registered mobile number,

Hek lauded the Shillong Civil hospital for being the first hospital in the state to start the online registration system for providing online services to patients for facilities like outdoor patient department appointment, lab reports etc.

To facilitate for online registration, Hek informed that a help desk will be set up in the hospital premises. He expressed hope that the online registration will reduce the waiting time of patients and help the hospital to deliver health care services promptly and effectively.

NIC SIO T Dkhar said that the Shillong Civil hospital is the first health institution in the state to join the ehospital platform which provide national platform framework to link hospitals across the country which was launched by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi on July 1 during the observation of Digital India Week.

Dkhar also informed that the common patient portal of ehospital platform developed by National Informatics Centre (NIC) is easily accessible over internet at http://ors.gov.in and is hosted at MeghRaj cloud facility at National Data Centre, Delhi which aids hospitals to provide various online services to patients such as online OPD appointment, viewing of lab reports, status of availability of blood in blood banks etc.-By Our Reporter
