Lajong looking to outplay Churchill in home match

Shillong, Nov 23:  Under pressure Shillong Lajong Football Club will host title aspirant Churchill Brothers in the round seven match of the I-League on Saturday afternoon at JN Sports Complex and will want to make the most of the home-ground by looking to defeat then already spirited team.

Lajong have not had a good going despite kicking off the I-League with a big win. Out of six matches played so far the team has won two (against Mohun Bagan and Paryag United) drew against Salgaocar and were beaten by Sporting Clube de Goa 1-2, all the four matches were played at home. The team has just come back from two away defeats at the feet of Dempo and Mubai FC 4-1.

The big question now that everyone is asking is that  will the team be able to stop Churchill from picking up any points on Saturday?

On the other hand Churchill is placed in the fourth with 12 points at the end of round six. They have won four matches and lost two.

Churchill Brothers technical director Subash Bhomik said that the team has a lot of injured players. They have come to Shillong without Beto as he is nursing injury. Steven Dias is overcoming his injury and he being in the team is uncertain.

About the upcoming Saturday game Bhomik said, “It will be nice game as Lajong is a strong side and defeating them at home is difficult and added we will be happy with whatever the result is but we will go all out to pocket highest points”.

On the other hand Lajong captain Renedy Singh said ,“If the boy’s play the manner in which they played against Dempo (however the result 1-4 was disappointing) we will be able to upset any team in the country, however the last match was bad we lost 1-4 against Mumbai FC”.

Lajong is likely to field Minchol Son and Ebi Sukora who were out in the last match because of injury.    Match kick off at 2 pm and will be telecast live in Tenaction.
