SSA teachers to stage protest

SHILLONG, NOV 8: The Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) teachers have decided to intensify their agitation by taking out a mass rally tomorrow as a mark of protest against the state government’s indifferent attitude towards their demands which include releasing their six-month pending salary.

Announcing this on Monday, president of the Meghalaya SSA School Association (MSSASA) Aristotle C Rymbai said, “We are going ahead with the mass rally to protest against the MDA government’s inaction towards our demands.”

The demands of the association include immediate releasing of the pending salary, regularizing the services of over 12, 541 SSA teachers by shifting them from the State Implementation Society to the state education department as per the provision of RTE Act, 2009 and SSA-RTE norms and to enhance their salary.

Rymbai said that the mass rally will start at 11 am from Lumjingthang at Jaiaw to Student’s Field to be followed by a meeting.

“All SSA teachers are yet to receive their salary for six months. We therefore appeal to all teachers and public at large to join hands with the association in condemning the adamant attitude of the MDA government towards the plight of the teaching community,” he added.
