SHILLONG, MAY 29: The state has registered a slight dip in the number of fresh COVID-19 cases after only 613 persons were tested positive for the viral infection on Saturday.
With this, the total number of active cases stands at 7,741.
About 7 deaths were also reported in the last 24 hours, taking the toll to 551.
According to the Director of Health Services (MI) Dr Aman War, 5 deaths were reported in East Khasi Hills district and 1 each in Ri Bhoi district and South West Garo Hills district.
Of 613 new cases, Dr War said 320 were detected in East Khasi Hills, 87 Ri Bhoi, 74 West Garo Hills, 28 North Garo Hills, 23 West Jaintia Hills, 19 East Garo Hills, 17 West Khasi Hills, 17 South West Garo Hills, 12 East Jaintia Hills, 11 South West Khasi Hills and 5 South Garo Hills.
He also informed that as many as 890 patients have also recovered from the viral infection during the past 24 hours.
Of these, 535 are from East Khasi Hills, 205 Ri Bhoi, 52 West Garo Hills, 18 West Jaintia Hills, 16 North Garo Hills, 14 West Khasi Hills, 13 South West Garo Hills, 13 East Jaintia Hills, 9 East Garo Hills, 9 South Garo Hills and 6 South West Khasi Hills.
So far, the state has detected a total of 34,448 COVID-19 cases out of which 7,741 are active cases, 26,156 recovered and 551 deaths.
With 3,663 active COVID-19 cases, East Khasi Hills, that includes state capital Shillong, is the worst affected district in the state, followed by Ri Bhoi with 1,191 cases.
There are 676 cases in West Garo Hills, 646 West Jaintia Hills, 417 South West Garo Hills, 228 East Jaintia Hills, 232 South West Khasi Hills, 207 West Khasi Hills, 184 North Garo Hills, 155 East Garo Hills and 142 South Garo Hills.
On the other hand, of the 5,67,966 persons who have tested for COVID-19 in the state as on date, 5,33,518 were tested negative for the virus even as 1,268 persons are in institutional quarantine and 6,473 under home quarantine.
There are 1,20,419 entrants from outside the state.
29,596 healthcare workers had received the first dose of Covishield vaccine and 19,521 had received the second dose, while 85,728 frontline workers got the first shot of the vaccine and 26,491 got the second dose as on Saturday.
Moreover, 2,73,091 persons from among the general public were vaccinated with the first dose and 28,275 were inoculated with the second dose of the vaccine against COVID-19 across the state.
