Shillong, Sept 17: Seventeen years old Melanie Pariat brought laurel to her school Assam Valley School, Balipara by clinching a gold medal in the 10 meter Air Pistol Shooting in the Junior Category during the 8th All Assam Shooting Championship held in Guwahati between September 12 to 14.
Pariat also represented the school in senior category in the same tournament and bagged bronze medal. A resident of Risa Colony in Shillong, she will now be participating in the National Shooting Championship to be held in New Delhi in November.
Daughter of HM Shangpliang, Director of Information & Public Relations and Social Welfare department, Pariat had brought laurel to Assam by bagging the silver medal in the National Shooting Championship in Faridabad in 2010.
Ironically, Pariat cannot represent her state Meghalaya as there are no facilities like air pistol shooting range-By Our Reporter
