SHILLONG, OCT 14: Two college students were detained in the city after they were caught with two packets of ganjas meant to be transported to Dimapur. The incident took place at around 2.30 pm on Wednesday when the boys went to a travel agency at Dhankheti police point to send the packets to a person at Dimapur..

Police said that the employees of the travel agency who checked and found ganjas inside the packets immediately alerted the traffic police personnel who in turn caught the two boys.

Both the students are doing their bachelor degree in St Anthony’s and Synod College is 18 and 19 years old respectively.

Police said one of the boys is  staying in one of the hostels at Malki locality and they had come to the travel agency to send the packets through buses going to Dimapur. But the two boys denied any any knowledge that there was ganjas inside the packets.

“They said they were instructed by a friend who is studying at BK Bajoria (who was staying in the same hostel) to take the packets and send it on his behalf to Dimapur,” the police official said.

The packets were supposed to be delivered  to one Asin Jamir of Dimapur.

Meanwhile, the employees at the travel agency revealed that this is not the first instance that they have come across such incident where people dropped packets containing ganjas and drug substances in the agency.

Learning from past experiences, the agency decided to check all the parcels before taking them to the destination, in order to avoid problems.- By Our Reporter
