Suchiang wins gold in National Jeet Kune Do

Shri Ferdinand Felicitated by State Sports Dept recentlySHILLONG, SEPT 12: Ferdinand Suchiang, a Bandsman from Meghalaya Home Guards won a Gold Medal in the recently concluded National Jeet Kune Do Championship held at Indoor Stadium, Kolkata, West Bengal from September 9-10.

Suchiang who won a Gold in the 55 kg full contact jeet kune do was a part of the Jeet Kune Do contingent from Meghalaya whose medal tally in the Championship consists of 10 gold and 7 silver medals securing the 2 nd Runners Up position for the State.

Suchiang who is a member of the pipe band of the Central Training Institute (CTI) of Home Guards and Civil Defence at Mawdiangdiang, is an accomplished martial arts athlete who has won several state, regional and national level tournaments.

He is also a qualified coach of Kickboxing.

From this National Championship, Suchiang is now setting his sights on the upcoming International Jeet Kune Do Championship at Hong Kong which will be held from 30 th September to 1 st October 2017.

He is one amongst two athletes to be selected for this International Tournament from Meghalaya.
