SWAT arrest Manipur’s militant leader

Shillong, January 3: The self-style captain of ‘PREPAK’, a banned outfit from Manipur, was arrested by East Khasi hills district police from Shillong late on Thursday night. He was hiding in Shillong to evade being arrested by the Manipur police.

East Khasi hills SP M Kharkhrang said that after the police received intelligence input the SWAT team    raided the house of the PREPAK militant outfit leader located at Lumshyiap Nongmynsong on Thursday night and nabbed the self style captain..

Kharkhrang informed that the PREPAK leader has been identified as Moriangthem Boboi Singh (37) who hails from Yairimpok Thoubal village in Imphal.

The SWAT team also seized 2 (two) laptop, 4(four) pen drives, 8 (eight) cheque books of different banks, 3 (three) SIM cards 1 (one) No of N Cell, 1000 Kyat, 2(two) debit cards, 2 (two) mobiles, 1(one) ipad .

During interrogation Singh revealed to the police that he was the self style captain of the banned PREPAK militant outfit of Manipur.

Kharkhrang also revealed that Singh had been staying in Shillong along with his family to evade arrest by Manipur police. He said the information of the arrest of the militant leader has already been intimation to the Manipur police.

The court has remanded Singh to ten days police custody.- By Our Reporter
