Militant, workers arrested

SHILLONG, JAN 5: The West Garo hill police arrested a GNLA militant and four Over Ground Workers  (OGW) on Saturday. The GNLA militant identified as Johny A Marak was arrested in Tura when he came to collect money from businessmen of the town. The police later arrested four OGWs after gleaning information from the arrested militant.

The over ground workers who were arrested have been identified as Gendaram Sangma, Nipin Marak, Krishna Subba and Cherak Sangma. All the four are residents of the Mandalgre. Police made the arrest of Johny A Marak after receiving specific intelligence about his movement.

Police also recovered one 7.65 pistol, 5 live rounds, demand notes for businessmen of the town  as well as mobile phones.- By Our Reporter
