Teachers to resume teaching

1SHILLONG, SEPT 13: Adopting a reconciliation stand on the long pending demands of teachers, the JACATAM decided to resume their school duties from Monday.

The decision to resume the duty was taken at a meeting held on Friday . JACATAM chairman ED Nongsiang said that the association would now request the chief minister Mukul Sangma to meet the association before September 23.

Nongsiang informed that the JACATAM members would not meet Education minister any more until and unless directed by the chief minister,”

The teachers, however, have warned that if the chief minister also refuses to meet them to discuss their demands they will march towards the Secretariat on September 24. Nongsiang said, “After the procession we would go ahead with out indefinite strike.”

Among other issues demanded by the government-aided school teachers are the provincialization of their services, implementation of the education policy, uniform salary for same jobs besides others.

 

JACATAM earlier had abstained from attending their school duties which affected the studies of thousands of students across the state.-By Our Reporter
