SHILLONG, DEC 14: The Presbyterian Church of Pohkseh celebrated its tenth anniversary with the formal opening of Youth Centre, felicitation of octogenarian church members and thanksgiving prayer meeting on Saturday. The celebration was marked with the release of colourful balloons by one of the woman faithful amidst the presence of representatives from other Presbyterian churches.
The pastor incharge of Presbyterian Church of Pohksheh Rev. GS Umwi formally inaugurated the Lam Jingshai Youth Centre to facilitate the youth to organize youth activities that would also benefit the church.
The inauguration of the Youth Centre was followed by the felicitation of twenty three octogenarians’ church members and mementoes were given to them as mark of respect and appreciation for dedication in the service of the church.
Church elder JS Syiem told the gathering that God’s creation was a miracle. “He (God) created the heaven and the earth and all the living and non-living beings out of nothing.” He added by saying these were the first miracles of God.
Giving a short history of the Lam Jingshai Youth Centre, the Church elder PS Keri informed that the youth centre building was erected on the 9,853 sq.ft of land at the church premises at the cost of Rs.2,01,88,900.00
Keri informed that the Youth Centre would have the facilities of library, prayer room, hall, computer rooms, dormitory and rooms for guests.
The celebration was also marked by the prize distribution on the various activities under taken by the youths during the week.- By Our Reporter
