SHILLONG, JAN 22: Deputy chief minister Prestone Tynsong said the rules will be made very flexible in as far as tourism sector is concern, if the Inner Line Permit (ILP) is implemented in the state.
Tynsong told reporters that the rules will have to be frame by the state government, if the government of India considers the resolution passed by the State Legislative Assembly to implement ILP in the state.
“We will make sure that the rules are very flexible as far as tourism sector is concern. We will allow the tourists to come in freely to experience and witness the scenic beauty of the state,” he said.
The deputy chief minister was reacting to the observation made by the CEO, NITI Aayog, Amitabh Kant that Meghalaya will be a major player in the tourism sector in the next 4-5 years.
Agreeing with Kant, Tynsong said that the state government will adopt all measures to ensure that the tourism sector is not affected and that the interest of the indigenous population is at the same time protected.
Refuting the allegation made by the opposition Congress that the MDA is trying to convince the people of the state to accept the CAA, he said the state government is deadly against the implementation of the CAA.
Further defending the stand of the government, Tynsong said that is why the government had convened a special session on December 19, last year and approved the resolution urging the Centre to implement ILP in the state. “This clearly reflects the sincerity of our government,” he added.
