SHILLONG, JULY 19: A new trust titled ‘Smart Charitable Trust’ recognizing the hard work put in by Shillong Traffic Police awarded two traffic policemen namely head constable Mahendra Saikia of Sadar Traffic Branch and constable Deepak Pradhan of Laitumkhrah Traffic Branch with the “Best Shillong Traffic Policeman Award” for the year 2015-2016.
A Certificate of appreciation, a momento and cash award of Rs. 7,000 was given to each.
The trust was initiated and conceptualized by retired additional chief secretary Prashant Naik and its members include retired bureaucrats. The aim of the trust is to award common people who have contributed to the well-being of the society.
Present during the award ceremony were the other trust members, Deputy Inspector General of Police (E/R) Meghalaya, Shillong, AR Mawthoh, IPS, M Kharkrang, IPS, Superintendent of Police, East Khasi Hills and other police officers.
