TURA, SEPT 22: The fourth edition of the professional football tournament – Tura Football League 2016- is all set to kick off at Dikki Bandi Stadium on Saturday. A total of 27 clubs categorised as Super Division, Division – A and Division – B is taking part in the league. The league is being organised by District Football Association (DFA), Tura, which is affiliated to Meghalaya Football Association (MFA).

The league is dubbed as the biggest sporting event of Garo Hills.

A total of 600 players from different parts of Garo hills, Manipur, Assam, Mizoram, West Bengal registered with DFA are part of different football clubs taking part in the league, which includes foreign players from countries like Ghana, Nigeria and Bangladesh.

“The series in held for three categories based on the teams achievements and performance. The series aims to bring professionalism in the field of sport so as to cater talented players to build up their career and acclimatize various norms of MFA and AIFF”, said Jasper P. Marak, president of DFA.

Two matches will be played every day from 1 pm onwards.

Tickets for the matches will be available at the counter put up outside the stadium in Dakopgre from 12 pm onwards.

The opening match will be played between North Tura Welfare Club Vs Greenwood Club Darenggre and Lower Durabanda Youth Cultural Club Vs Tura Monfort.-From Our Correspondent
