SHILLONG, AUG 9: Two died while fourteen others were critical injured when a Guwahati bound night super bus hit one truck loaded with timbers parked along the Shillong by-pass road in East Khasi Hills district on Saturday morning.
The incident took place at Mawkhanu village located along the stretch of the Shillong bye-pass, police said. The Guwahati bound night super bus bearing registration number AS24C – 2944 was coming from Silchar.
According to police, on reaching Makhanu, the bus which came in full speed dashed against the parked truck (ML 05 B 2077). The truck driver identified as L Kharmalki and a bus passenger E Sahidur died on the spot. Police informed that the 14 other passengers of the bus were critically injured and were immediately shifted to NEIGRIHMS, Shillong for medical attention.
The driver of the bus however fled away from site of the accident.
Some of the injured persons were identified as Sushil Sunali (25), Tarad Kalita (52), NIzamudin (27), Ajir Uddin (20), Sabil Uddin (18), Shulinda Ghosh (54), SN Ghosh (54), Manoj Dev (42) and Mithun Dev (27).-By Our Reporter
