Ultras, police exchange fire

SHILLONG, APR 1: The West Garo hills district police and United A’chik Liberation Army (UALA) militants exchange gunfire on Monday evening at a place called Chidaogre near Babadam about 15 kilometers from Tura. However, there were no casualties from either side.

West Garo hills SP Mukesh Singh informed that the militants were holed up inside an abandoned house.  He said the four UALA militants open fire on seeing the police team approaching the abandoned house.

Singh said police returned the fire after which the militants fled. The police team conducted a search operation in the area but the militants fled. Operations are still continuing. Police informed that the militants had fired from AK rifles.

Four UALA demand notes, 4 blankets, 5 bags full of clothes and 2 tupolin, injection, medicines, one pair of camouflage and two toothbrushes were recovered from abandoned house.- By Our Reporter
