Youth exchange kicks off

SHILLONG, JULY 14: Meghalaya health minister AL Hek inaugurated the seven-day Meghalaya Youth Exchange Camp 2014 at Bharat Scouts & Guides in the city on Monday. About 120 youths from all the eleven districts of the state participated in the camp.

The exchange camp is organized to allow the youths to share ideas and get acquainted with the different cultures of various tribes of the state in order to bring mutual understanding and brotherhood amongst them.

Addressing the youths, the minister emphasized on the responsibility and role of the youth to bring about a sense of respect, trust and understanding between different tribes and communities in the state. He called upon all the youths to be role models who would be an asset to the family, village, society and the country as a whole.

Earlier, Sports and Youth Affairs director FM Doph spelled out a brief outline of the programme where he mentioned that the programme is designed by the department in collaboration with Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan on the line of the vision of the chief minister who always lays focus on youth empowerment for a brighter future of the state.- By Our Reporter
