SHILLONG, MAR 6: An A’Chik Songna An’Pachakgipa Kotok (ASAK) militant Wilnever Arnegh was arrested from a remote village in Assam on Thursday. He was arrested in a joint operation conducted by Balijana based troops of Red Horns Division and Goalpara police from Damra village of Goalpara district.
ASAK is a splinter group of the Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA).
Police recovered one .22mm pistol, ammunition and one hand grenade from Arnegh’s possession. In recent times, the activities of Meghalaya based insurgent groups have increased in Goalpara district and areas in Assam-Meghalaya border. Army, Goalpara police and Meghalaya police are coordinating operation against these insurgent.- By Our Reporter
