ATM machine,cash stolen

atmSHILLONG, FEB 11: In yet another daring robbery, miscreants lifted an SBI ATM machine (Kiosk) having around Rs 14 lakhs even as state police have launched a massive hunt to nab the culprit.  The incident took place at Madanrting Bazaar on Tuesday night, when miscreants lifted the ATM machine of the State Bank of India from the area, East Khasi hills SP M Kharkrang told reporters.

Kharkhrang said the SBI had informed that the ATM, which weigh around 4 tons had Rs 14 lakhs.  He said police suspect that the robbery is the handiwork of people from outside the state in connivance with local from here.”

Kharkhrang said to carry an ATM machine it would definitely require 5-6 people to lift it.

According to Kharkhrang, preliminary investigation revealed that the people behind the ATM theft are well experience, knowledgeable about how to commit the crime.  Stating that police are on the job to nab the culprits, he said, “Finger prints and FSL have been sent. We are also examining the CCTV footage fixed inside the ATM booth and hoping to get something in the coming days.”- By Our Reporter
