Audit bill in assembly soon

SHILLONG, JAN 7: The state government will introduce the ‘Social Auditing Bill’ in the upcoming assembly session. Informing this to reporters on Tuesday chief minister Mukul Sangma said that the government wants to complete the process of Social Auditing Bill and there it will be introduce in upcoming assembly session.

Sangma said the SAB is being design in a manner so that projects and programmes which are being implemented across the state by all line departments will come into scrutiny and vigilance on a “concurrent-basis” rather than on a post-mortem basis, which is the system that is being followed now.

Sangma informed that when social auditing system is passed and implemented it will have its own mechanism to deter any tendency to embark upon any irregularity at the time of implementation of programmes. He was of the opinion that the SAB will go a long way in transforming the government approach to governance and delivery system.- By Our Reporter
