SHILLONG, JAN 7: The ANVC (B) fired and injured two policemen identified as sub inspector Starson Sangma and head constable HC Bani on Tuesday when they along with two other policemen had gone to their camp to inquiry about the FIR lodged by the militant group- which is in truce mode with the government- on the missing members of the group.
The incident took place at the ANVC-B’s main camp at Edenbari near Tura in West Garo hills district around 2 pm on Tuesday when the police team apparently went there for inquiries as part of their investigation on the FIR filed by the ANVC (B) on their missing cadres.
It is learnt that on reaching the ANVC (B) camp, its members started to fire at the policemen without and provocation injuring Sangma and Bani. Both the policemen have been admitted in the Tura civil hospital and are stated to be out of danger.
The police registered an FIR against the ANVC(B) and overran the camp. – By Our Reporter
