SHILLONG, MAY 31: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) said it is going to sack a leader from Garo Hills for allegedly posted on social media that the party will have a “beef party” to celebrate three-year of Narendra Modi led government.

North Garo Hills District president Bachu Chambugong had posted in his facebook page announcing that the party would organize a beef party.

“The district president who has put up this post that we will do a beef festival to celebrate Narendra Modiji’s three years of government is going to be sacked. He will be sacked,” BJP national spokesperson Nalin Kohli said here.

“If he wants to leave the party, we welcome his leaving the party because how can slaughter of an animal be the ground to celebrate three years of sabka sath sabka vikas,” he added.

Stating that the Act itself is prevention of cruelty against animals, Kohli, while referring to a protest in Kerela said, “The Congress party can do this by cutting an animal in public to protest, the BJP will not.”

He however agreed with the statement made by the Tura District president Bernard N Marak, who is also a former chairman of the disbanded ANVC.B that people of the BJP in Meghalaya eat beef.

“What he (Bernard) said is his personal view and not the BJP. It is correct to only that much that yes in Meghalaya, people in the BJP also eat beef but to say we will set up a market he is wrong,” Kohli said.

Meanwhile, the national spokesperson informed that the state president of the party Shibun Lyngdoh has sought explanation on the matter.
