Congress condemns Jemino

SHILLONG, SEPT 22: The Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committe (MPCC) has condemned statement, it described as irresponsible, of the United Democratic Party (UDP) legislator Jemino Mawthoh  when he said that the party had ‘no intention to topple the state government ‘but ‘simply want a change of the leadership of Mukul Sangma

In a statement issued on Sunday the MPCC reminded Mawthoh that to topple the government , requisite number of legislators are required which the UDP does not have.

It also took umbrage at Mawthoh statement of change of leadership of the Congress and said that the issue is an internal matter of the party and the UDP has no business to talk about it. The Congress advised Mawthoh to restrain from making statement on the internal matter of the Congress.

The MPCC also asserted that the party is committed to address the core issue of ‘influx” and illegal immigration” and measures are already being taken.

With regard to the statement made saying that  “many colleagues to the chief minister are unhappy with his style of functioning but it does not come out in the open, MPCC remined Mawthoh of the recent meeting of the Congress -led MUA-II legislature party where everyone present expressed total faith and loyality in the undisputed leadership of chief minister Mukul sangma. –By Our Reporter
