COVID-19: 231 new cases, 2 deaths

SHILLONG, AUG 26: The state on Thursday recorded 2 COVID-19 related deaths, pushing the death toll to 1,294 in the state.

 

According to Director of Health Services (MI) Dr Aman War, 1 each was reported from East Khasi Hills district and West Jaintia Hills district.

 

Dr War said the state has also detected 231 new COVID-19 cases.

 

These include 116 in East Khasi Hills, 47 West Khasi Hills, 3 West Garo Hills, 9 Ri Bhoi, 9 West Jaintia Hills, 6 East Garo Hills, 2 North Garo Hills, 2 East Jaintia Hills, 0 South Garo Hills, 3 South West Khasi Hills and 34 South West Garo Hills.

 

Dr War also informed that 362 persons have recovered from the viral infection.

 

Of these, 202 East Khasi Hills, 6 West Garo Hills, 37 West Jaintia Hills, 22 West Khasi Hills, 4 East Garo Hills, 1 North Garo Hills, 0 South Garo Hills, 3 South West Garo Hills, 2 East Jaintia Hills, 56 Ri Bhoi and 29 South West Khasi Hills.

 

So far, the state has detected a total of 74,817 COVID-19 cases out of which 2,682 are active cases, 70,841 recovered and 1,294 deaths.

 

With 1,408 active COVID-19 cases, East Khasi Hills, that includes state capital Shillong, is the worst affected district in the state, followed by Ri Bhoi with 378 and West Khasi Hills with 279 cases.

 

There are 220 in West Jaintia Hills, 135 West Garo Hills, 131 South West Khasi Hills, 32 East Jaintia Hills, 24 North Garo Hills, 18 East Garo Hills, 27 South West Garo Hills and 30 South Garo Hills.
