COVID-19: 558 new cases, 6 deaths

SHILLONG, JUL 21: The state on Wednesday recorded 6 COVID-19 related deaths, pushing the death toll to 974 in the state.

 

According to Director of Health Services (MI) Dr Aman War, 4 were reported from East Khasi Hills district and 1 each from Ri Bhoi district and West Jaintia Hills district.

 

He said the state also detected 558 new cases. These include 192 in East Khasi Hills, 140 West Garo Hills, 62 Ri Bhoi, 22 West Jaintia Hills, 44 West Khasi Hills, 11 South West Garo Hills, 15 North Garo Hills, 14 East Garo Hills, 22 South Garo Hills and 12 East Jaintia Hills.

 

Dr War also informed that 375 persons have recovered from the viral infection.

 

Of these, 89 are from East Khasi Hills, 70 West Garo Hills, 65 Ri Bhoi, 62 West Jaintia Hills, 29 North Garo Hills, 15 West Khasi Hills, 12 South West Garo Hills, 11 South Garo Hills, 9 South West Khasi Hills, 8 East Jaintia Hills and 5 East Garo Hills.

 

So far, the state has detected a total of 58,833 COVID-19 cases out of which 4,221 are active cases, 53,638 recovered and 974 deaths.

 

With 1,295 active COVID-19 cases, East Khasi Hills, that includes state capital Shillong, is the worst affected district in the state, followed by West Garo Hills with 1,005 cases and Ri Bhoi with 587 cases.

 

There are 378 cases in West Jaintia Hills, 230 South West Khasi Hills, 140 North Garo Hills, 178 West Khasi Hills, 133 East Garo Hills, 103 South West Garo Hills, 102 South Garo Hills and 70 East Jaintia Hills.
