Educational website to be launched soon in the state

SHILLONG, JULY 4: ‘Edurial’ – a first of its kind educational website – is all set to be launched in Meghalaya with an aim to provide quality education to students besides addressing the problem of school dropout.

The website (edurial.com) is being founded by Natalia Shullai and Hanif Syiemlieh, who is also a teacher by profession.

Speaking at the pre-launch of the website here on Wednesday, NCP state chief and Gambegre legislator Saleng A Sangma said, “The team have come together to provide quality education through this website.”

He said that the website will be of great help to students especially those who cannot afford to go for tuitions besides candidates who are appearing the various jop examinations conducted by the District Selection Committees in the state.

The official launching of the website will be held at Tura, West Garo Hills District on July 10.

Giving more details about the website, Natalia said Edurial is an online educational website that has been developed and is dedicated to the students of Meghalaya irrespective of their social background.

The website aims to bridge gaps via simple lesson delivery and affordable study material in the form of videos, notes, presentations, mock tests and solved questions.

“The goal of Edurial is to enhance the quality of learning in order to decrease the dropout rate and thereby increase the pass percentage at an affordable price,” she said.

To enable and promote digital learning throughout the state, Natalia said that the website would cater to three subjects – mathematics, science and computer science (covering the NCERT syllabus).

“The targeted audience at the initial stage would be students of classes IX and X,” she said while informing that in the future the website would also like to extend its services to students of classes XI and XII as well.

The founder member further informed that steps would also be taken to provide learning experiences to students in Khasi, Jaintia and Garo languages.

On the other hand, Natalia said that the need for Edurial arises from the fact that the state has witnessed a large-scale dropout over the last 5 to 7 years as well high priced tutorial fee that cannot be afforded by every student.

Besides this, she said Edurial was started because of the problems that the students from the state face every year after they passed their Class X board exams.

In the span of 6 months, they have to cover the syllabus of a year in a short span of time and that stresses the students physically and mentally.

“Apart from this problem the students of our State also have a tough time in comprehending these subjects as the same quality of education is not available throughout all schools of our State,” she said.

In order to do away with these problems, Edurial wishes to provide best quality education of Meghalaya through minimal pricing, she said while adding that the registered students can have an interactive forum with the faculties under Edurial.

The team also comprises Tahir Khan, Romario Lyngdoh, Samhaoo Passah, Debashish Das, Bikash Boro and Abhijit Das.
