SHILLONG, MAY 18: Newly elected Chief Executive Member (CEM) of Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) Pynshngainlang N Syiem on Monday submitted a list of nine Executive Members (EMs) of the new Executive Committee (EC) led by People’s Democratic Forum (PDF) to the Governor his approval.
The list of EMs also includes Independents MDCs – James Sylliang and Grace Mary Kharpuri- who shifted their allegiance from the All Regional Parties Alliance (ARPA) to the PDF that enabled the formation of the new EC in the KHADC.
“We have submitted the list of EMs of the new executive committee to the Governor for his approval,” Syiem said on Monday.
While refusing to divulged the names of the MDCs submitted to the Governor, Syiem, however, said that portfolios will be accordingly allotted to all the EMs soon after the list gets the approval.
On Friday last, the PDF formed the new executive committee (EC) after Syiem was elected for the second time as the CEM.
He (Syiem) was elected unopposed after ARPA leader Metbah Lyngdoh withdrew his nomination papers after losing majority in the 30-member House.
While the ARPA was left with only 14 MDCs, the PDF managed to garner support of 16 MDCs which include – 12 Congress MDCs, 3 Independent MDCs and one NCP MDC.
PDF has made it clear that the post of the Deputy Chief Executive Member (Dy.CEM) is reserved for PT Sawkmie.
Earlier, Sawkmie shifted his allegiance from ARPA to form the PDF at a time when the KHADC was in a state of political crisis.- By Our Reporter
