Fake policemen arrested

SHILLONG, JULY 27: Two police impersonators were arrested on Monday  after they forcefully conducted a search and took away Rs 1.20 lakh from a house at Law-U-Sib recently.

The arrested persons have been identified as Kynjai Kshiar of Risa Colony, Fruit Garden and Teiborlang Diengdoh of Laitumkhrah, New Colony, East Khasi Hills SP M Kharkrang informed.

Kharkhrang said the robbery took place at Law-U-Sib, Madanriting on July 22, when the two accused impersonating as policemen from police special cell, entered inside the house of one Grace Khaute.

“They started searching her house and took away cash Rs 1.20 lakh and some golden tins suspected to contain illicit drugs,” Kharkrang said. Acting on the FIR filed by Khaute, he said the two accused were arrested and remanded to five days police custody.

Kharkhrang said the two are not police personnel but impersonated as police of special cell.- By Our Reporter
