Poisoned, 130 BSF jawans hospitalized

TURA, APR 20: One hundred and thirty Border Security Force (BSF) personnel of Dobasipara in Tura fell ill after having their breakfast early Sunday morning. The breakfast was served to the BSF personnel at around 6 am, those who had partake the breakfast immediately complained of severe abdominal pain.

Those who fell sick were immediately rushed to the hospitals in Tura for medical treatment. The food poisoning incident was confirmed both by the West Garo hills district administration as well as the BSF team in Dobasipara .

In the absence of Dobasipara DCP Abhimanyu Singh, the in-charge said that an investigation into the incident is being initiated. He said, “We are currently reviewing the incident and samples of food provided during the ill fated breakfast.”

The incharge said that more information would be provided on Monday.

According to sources, 83 of the affected BSF personnel have been admitted I the Mission Hospital in Tura while the rest are divided between the Civil Hospital and the Holy Cross hospital. – By Our Reporter
