HSPDP to expel Fenela

SHILLONG, APR 20: The Hills State People Democratic Party (HSPDP) has decided to terminate Fenela Lyngdoh Nonglait from the party for indulging in anti-party activity by supporting UDP candidate Paul Lyngdoh during the Lok Sabha elections that concluded on April 9.

The decision was taken at the general meeting of the HSPDP Mawthadraishan area unit, of which she is a member,  held on Saturday at Kynshi in West Khasi Hills District.

“We have unanimously decided to terminate Nonglait and the party will no longer keep any relation with her,” Ryntathiang said in a statement issued on Sunday.

The decision to terminate the membership of Nonglait from the party came after she had openly extended support to Lyngdoh during an election campaign. The HSPDP had support Common People’s Front (CPF) Independent candidate PBM Basaiawmoit.

Ryntathiang informed that during the meeting, majority of the supporters expressed their dismay on the step taken by the leader (Nonglait) which they said was against the party.

“The supporters said that they have lost confidence in her,” Ryntathiang claimed.- By Our Reporter

I wonder why would they have to expel a senior, well qualified person like Dr Fenella? I think this decision shows that Mr HS Lyngdoh has no more power in the part now runs by the Basaiawmoit!!
