Foundation stone of FCI building laid

Shillong, Sept 18:A foundation stone of the  Regional Office Building in the North East India was laid Tuesday at the Food Corporation of India’s own land at Mawroh, Shillong, by the FCI East Zone Executive Director Pinue Basumatary, IA & AS, in the presence of various dignitaries, invitees, including C Songate, the Regional Manager of FCI, Meghalaya, Mizoram and Tripura.The Regional Office in Shillong, known as the North East Frontier Region supervises FCI operation in the state of Meghalaya, Mizoram and Tripura, and controls seventeen depots and three state offices known as the district offices.

Costing approximately Rs 10 lakhs, the construction is being carried out by the Central Public Works Department, Shillong.

The Food Corporation of India (FCI) is responsible for procurement of food grains, transportation of and storage of food grains and sugar in the country.-By Our Reporter
